Shellie Fritz Winter
Shellie has been a friend of ours for several years. She lived with us in the Pink House and then came to stay with us for 6 weeks when we lived in Nigeria. For 2 years now she's been serving at Evangel Home, a residential community for women recently released from incarceration or coming off the streets. In May she married a great guy.

A bunch of fun crazies who used to live with us in the Pink House

Don Simmons
Don was our prof in Seminary and then my colleague at One by One. But more than anything he's a great friend.

My favorite restaurant
Fajita Fiesta at the corner of Divisidero & Van Ness. I have spent a LOT of time and money at this place.
-
Carne Asada
Many of you know that I am a closet restaurant afficianado. I'm always on the look out for the best restaurants, food, drink, etc. Fajita Fiesta has THE best Carne Asada I've ever had. Hands down. And, for the record, the second best Carne Asada is a little place in Managua, Nicaragua that the Sirkers introduced me to on my last visit.

Craig Scharton
Craig used to be a Fresno city councilman prior to entering the nonprofit world which is where I met him when we both were with One by One Leadership. For the past three years he was directing the Central Valley Business Incubator where he lead a group of young entreprenurial movers & shakers (in the business sense of the word). Fresno's newly elected mayor tapped him to be Fresno's Downtown Revitalization Director of Making Downtown Cool...um...Downtown Director...downtown czar! Ok, I don't know his title, but he's important! And he stopped by to see us at Fajita Fiesta where he interrupted my carne asada. But it was ok, because I hadn't seen him in a while. Much of what I know about how downtowns work in a larger city context I owe to him.

James & Elias
I'm amazed at the size differences in their heads.
-
Hector
As mentioned in my blog, Hector is my barber and the owner of World Hair Stylists which is at the corner of Blackstone & Shaw. Stop by and tell him Matthew sent you. You won't be disappointed.

Caesar & Michelle
I officiated their wedding. A great couple that met while tutoring underprivileged children. Not a bad way to begin a romance.

Fresno State Students
That are now Fresno State Graduates. These are students that Lisa discipled while a campus staff worker with Intervarsity Christian Fellowship. Top notch each and every one of them.
-
Churchmen
Albert and Robert. And no, they're not posing. This is just how Californians go to church. These guys rock.

Cristando
John Cristando lived in the Pink House with us. He went to South Africa to get a Masters in Development from some high tone S. African university. Then he started a development consulting company down there. Now he's heading to Tuck Business School @ Dartmouth. This young man is going to change the world. Honestly.
